A Registry key named MountPoints2 stores information about all USB flash drives and other removable media that have ever been connected to your computer. The solution is to globally block autorun.inf files from executing. Simply select the ‘Protect against Autorun parasites‘ option in DVD Repair.

DVD Repair will then set the [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsNTCurrentVersionIniFileMappingAutorun.inf], @=”@SYS:DoesNotExist” registry value. Because Autorun are disabled in Windows 7 by default, DVD Repair will set the NoAutoplayfornonVolume value when run on Windows 7. Just to keep true to the double-tap rule, DVD Repair will also set the NoDriveTypeAutoRun value.
